Core Web Vitals and the Healthcare Website Experience

Performance is credibility. What loading speed, stability and readability contribute to healthcare conversions.

    Performance is a trust signal

Patients arriving from a referral or a search result are already uncertain. A slow site confirms the suspicion that the practice is behind.

That is a different objection from price, and it is not fixed by adding reassurance copy.

    The three metrics

Largest Contentful Paint: how long until the largest visible element renders. Usually an image or a heading.

Interaction to Next Paint: how responsive the page feels when a patient taps a button or types.

Cumulative Layout Shift: whether content jumps while loading, which is where booking buttons tend to be lost.

    Fixing the common causes

Serve appropriately sized images in modern formats rather than uploading full-resolution files directly from a camera.

Reserve space for embeds and advertising slots so late-arriving content does not push the booking form down the page.

Set performance budgets at build time. Auditing after launch means the site is already live while it is being fixed.

    Accessibility overlaps

Contrast, focus visibility and heading order are scored alongside performance in Core Web Vitals, because they are the same underlying quality.
